How to: Fix 4 Axis Mirror Output

If you experience mirrored output during 4 axis operations.  There are two possible causes and post adjustments you can make to correct this, as follows.

1.If it occurs during an indexed 4 axis operation, such as a 3 axis roughing operation.

2.If it occurs during a 4 axis continuous operation, such as a 4 axis parallel finishing operation.

For both instances, there are adjustments you can make to your Mach3-Inch post, as follows:

1.From the Program tab, select Post.

2.Select the post from the list (i.e., Mach3-Inch) and then select Edit.

3.From the Post Process Generator, select Multi Axis Motion from the left pane.

4.If the issue occurs during an indexed 4 axis operation, such as a 3 axis roughing, go to the section called Rotation Direction Code (Only for Rotate Table) and reverse the +/- values in the fields called Clockwise Rotation and Counter Clockwise Rotation.  This change will cause the table to rotate in the opposite direction.

5.If the issue occurs during a 4 axis continuous operation, such as a 4 axis parallel finishing, go to the section called Angle Value and place a negative sign "-" before the Scale Factor value (example change it to "-57.295779513082").

6.After you make the change(s), select Save As... and enter new name for the post file (i.e., such as "Mach2-Inch-REV1.spm").  This will create a new post that will then appear in your Current Post Processor selection list.

7.Select this revised post and generate G-code and test it on your machine.
